As we reported
earlier, Mark Coleman was forced to drop out of his fight with
Brock Lesnar due to a knee injury that will keep him out of training for the next six weeks.
Today, our friends over at MMAWeekly have confirmed that Heath Herring has agreed to step in as Coleman's replacement and will likely face Brock Lesnar at UFC 87.
Heath Herring (28-13) is a former PRIDE veteran who's had mixed results since coming over to the UFC. He's been in four UFC fights since coming over last year, all of them going to decision. His most recent fight ended in a split decision victory over Cheick Kongo.
UFC 87 is slated for August 9 and will mark the UFC's debut in Minneapolis, Minnesota. The fight card is shaping up nicely; just last week the UFC announced that welterweight champion Georges St. Pierre will face Jon Fitch to headline the event.
Below is a look at the UFC 87 fight card as it stands:
Georges St. Pierre vs. Jon Fitch
Kenny Florian vs. Roger Huerta
Brock Lesnar vs. Heath Herring
Cheick Kongo vs. Dan Evensen
