Jake Shields and Drew Fickett are set to battle to become EliteXC's first Welterweight Champion. The fight is scheduled to take place in San Jose on March 29 and will be the co-main event alongside the Frank Shamrock-Cung Le contest.

Jake Shields (20-4)is currently riding a nine fight winning streak and is considered to be one of the top welterweight fighters in the world. He's coming off of a big win over veteran Mike Pyle last November.

Former UFC veteran Drew Fickett (31-5) last fought in December where he beat Mark Weir via first round submission.
