Mirko "Cro Cop" Filipovic recently confirmed his oft-rumored rematch against Alistair Overeem will take place on Dec. 31 in Saitama, Japan.
The two dynamic heavyweight strikers recently fought to a no contest at DREAM.6 back in September; a fight which many observers believe Overeem dominated before scoring two illegal knee's to the groin leading to a no contest.
Cro Cop revealed the news to the Croatian site dnevnik.hr. He also revealed that he fought Overeem at DREAM.6 against his doctors wishes.
"The advice I got from my doctors was that fighting Overeem only two months after my knee operation was a suicide mission," said Filipovic. "But, I already had missed the July bout and postponing my September bout was not an option for me. I have only myself to blame."
The knee is apparently in bad enough shape that it will require another surgery to be held directly after his rematch with Overeem.
